everyone seems to be talking about getting abs quickly in magazines, and tv, and in regards to celerities like Brad Pitt who only months later fashion a pot belly, and then there are personal training studios that get clients to do transformations whereby the clients get results in 3 months, however a year later are perhaps sometimes in even worse shape than before…

and this made me realise and conclude to the idea for me personally and for my clients the idea that actually its better to maintain a healthier lifestyle and to get abs slowly and consistently for the long term via the change of habits performed and tweaked consistently for the long term…

here are some tips I’ve thought of… rather than going on a fully paleolific diet that you can’t maintain in the long term have a healthy balance of fats, carbohydrates and proteins for every meal that you have and tweak the quantities and amounts down to your results, your hormones and your feel good factor, the best book i read up on this by a doctor with references and science was a book written by Dr Barry Sears who wrote the zone, now i dont adopt everything he says but i love his concept and his science and structurally speaking for long term health i agree with his ideas… personally at the moment I’m looking more into the micronutrients of specific fruits and vegetables to advance your health even further but in terms of macronutrients i believe he is bang on…

exercise, well yes this has to be done, now some people i work with our athletes and avid fitness enthusiasts so we may train daily or even 2 or 3 times a days for short phases, and for some of you this is excessive, and to be quite honest it isn’t even required, but for long term health and energy and enthusiasm and shape i advocate to clients training 4 x a week as an absolute minimum, because if you are going to invest your time in training, your time out of whatever else is going on in your life, and giving time to prioritise health then do it right… to get the best out of your personal training, training on a program, or with a partner with the right intensity, technique and programme to get results that show the results and give you the energy you want, training 4 x week is necessary… on the other day your can go for walks, light running and stretches as they wont harm you and will make you feel better psychologically, physiologically and physically…

rest, you need to sleep on a consistent basis year around a minimum of 7 hours a day and if you can ideally 8 hours a day, and if it requires you take naps to win those hours back then so be it, its important and sleep enables you to recover, to optimise your hormones, your brains and your overrall wellbeing…

stress, its your job to destress and reduce anxiety in your life no matter what… and i strongly suggest meditation as it recuperates, recovers and clarifies everything you need to know and have in your life.. a way for people to get into it at first may be with the help of others or self hypnosis, some of my clients love head space and that has benefitted clients massively in doing some form of meditation daily..

the above 3 are the pillars, to a lean, strong and healthy body for the long term. its better to get those abs in 2 years time and maintain them for life without shortcuts than to gain abs stressfully and quickly only to get results that go up and down as frequently as a yoyo, for coaching come over to my studio in london, romney street, westminster, sw1 and see you soon. I’m looking forward to it
