mobility is essential as is confidence… confidence comes from feeling strong and being able to move with grace and lightness… all athletes have this ability because they are skills drilled day in and day out and so can your average person have this even if your into bodybuilding and having size you can have this mobility despite myths, if you dont believe it just take a look at male gymnasts and their physiques, they can be absolutely massive and they can still move with strength, speed, agility, flexibility, power and endure it with their endurance.
mobility is key in health and yes it is different to flexibility in that it is flexibility added with strength, so you may be able to touch your toes but can you touch your toes and then still lift a heavy load or weight from the ground, this an example of mobility…
and movement of the body is freedom and expression of the body and yourself to feel good, have you ever had a stiff neck, a numb arm, a frozen shoulder or any tightness or lack of movement or range in the body, well think about that how limiting does that feel…
mobility isn’t just about looking good and looking like you move well, its also a fact that the body stores emotions or limitations in both the body and the mind, so imagine your stiff, somewhere, its saying not only are you stiff physically you are also stiff emotionally… if you dont believe ask someone how they are, you see someone looking at the floor, ask them how they are, i guarantee you, they will not say fantastic…then imagine someone literally bounces when they walk, their head is up and their smile is beaming, and you ask how are you, i gurantee you a completely different response, something like, I’m fricking fantastic you wont believe what happened the other day…
the body talks, and emotions can be stuck as tension in the body. so what i am saying is a good mobility workout will cheer you up and make you feel fantastic and feel well even if challenging stuff is happening..so see you soon here in sw1 for some personal training sessions.
