health is a system and theres a definite code to it…
weight training is fantastic for the structure, the skeletons, firmness of the skin, posture and sheer strength
however is not a complete system without cardio or sports where there is continuous movement, whether its thai boxing, running or tennis, the more you go into a competitive arena the better it is in fine-tuning shape as you have to react to a powerful opponent
however thats still not a complete system as you need flexibility i believe not only for range, fantastic movement and agility, but also for recovery, which is massive no matter what sport, activity or lifestyle you have, and no i don’t mean simply going to a yoga class when i talk about flexibility because i am personally hypermobile and still work on flexibility, but on addressing muscle that are too tight and lacking movement and doing dynamic and static stretches as well as massage techniques and breaking down movement patterns and improving them.
and heres where the mental focus comes in, your goal, your desire, to get a six pack in 6 months, to get in shape for your wedding, to feel confident about your self image, to lose weight, to beat your opponent in sparring, to win a competition, to be a healthier parent, to live a healthier life.. this is all to do with mental focus whereby you have pin pointed exactly how, why and in what way you would like to be healthy, and come in doing workouts or classes with that sole purpose staying in the forefront of your mind, when you eat, you eat in a way or an improved way to get you to your goal, when you train , you train with that target in your mind, when the training is hard work and your feeling tired or lazy, that focus, that goal pushes you to continue or to patiently pursue your goal with the same enthusiasm as the day before…
