As you know if you have been reading my articles for a while, I love to mix up multiple training styles. Not in a Crossfit kind of way, a mix of many different movement disciplines with a generic understanding of each but in a unique kind of way. For the past couple of weeks, I’ve invested a lot of time and money in yoga and have thoroughly enjoyed it and benefited from it. There is a whole load of neck, chest, shoulder and oblique stretches which have really helped with my movement ranges.
For any runners out there, the sun salutations are awesome for posture, mobility and flexibility of the joints, ligaments and muscles.
Looking at flexibility in and of itself, what I’ve noticed is that the more flexible and more dynamic you are the quicker you recovery. As someone who trains everyday, putting yoga into your routine is a no brainer.
Enhanced flexibility and mobility will give you healthy muscles and ligaments allowing you to move and live pain free and even improve your breathing patterns through the deep breathing promoted during your yoga session, not to mention the detox benefits of getting a good sweat on!
